LOCATION: San Antonio, Texas
We are seeking a Senior Network Automation (NA) Engineer in San Antonio, TX, to support our Defense Health Agency (DHA) customer. The Senior NA Engineer is responsible for overseeing and performing a wide range of analysis, testing, lab establishment, and documentation generation for a new NA environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will be responsible for the following:
- Oversee the creation of a comprehensive analysis of NA capabilities, requirements, and dependencies of all DHA Local Area Network (LAN) equipment currently in use by the DHA, including Cisco, Comscope (Brocade), and Juniper LAN components and documenting that analysis
- Lead a large, dynamic project consisting of a team of motivated junior engineers; manage the automation team’s workload, provide feedback and insight into code standards and practices, identify areas of improvement within an Agile environment
- Identify gaps or weaknesses in vendor abilities to support automating Device Inventory, Device Provisioning, Data Collection and Monitoring, Configuration Management, and Compliance Reporting
- Oversee the creation of a comprehensive analysis of NA capabilities, requirements, and dependencies using CheckMK, SolarWinds, and Micro Focus Network Automation (MFNA) and document the results of that analysis
- Provide a recommended product solution-set report to enable an NA architecture that includes Data Management, Configuration Management, and Orchestration that supports Agile development, DevOps, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) best practices within the DHA enterprise and documenting that analysis
- Design, document, and build a Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)-compliant NA Architecture in a non-production lab environment using MFNA, CheckMK, commercial-off-the-shelf products (COTS), and Open Source products.
- Perform comprehensive analysis and testing of products used in the NA lab focusing on utilizing, improving, and expanding the operational capabilities of the DHA enterprise tools environment with respect to functionality, feasibility, cost, life cycle management, and security; submit detailed reports of the outcome
- Create Risk Management Framework (RMF) artifacts and documentation for NA system accreditation to either risk assess them into an existing Authority to Operate (ATO) or establish a new ATO
- Provide a comprehensive cost analysis and recommendation reports of using Open Source and COTS products with total cost, return on investment, time to implement, and benefits for NA within the DHA enterprise
- Provide a comprehensive report on how to enable NA within the DHA using existing MFNA and CheckMK tools and how to expand NA capabilities within the DHA by adding new tools to the environment
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Education required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience required, including substitutions for experience without degree
- Certifications required:
- CompTIA Security+ or CCNA Security (must be able to obtain within 30 days of start of employment)
- CCNA Routing & Switching
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate
- Must have an active Secret security clearance
- Extensive knowledge of Data Management, Configuration Management, and Orchestration capabilities and best practices
- Extensive knowledge of network environments, including Ruckus, Cisco, and Juniper
- Strong knowledge of and previous experience with the RMF process, the system accreditation process, and the process leading to DHA approval for inclusion of items on the DHA Approved Product List
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in the following technologies:
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
- Fundamental knowledge of SCCM duties
- Experience in an MSP environment
- Knowledge of SAN, VMware, IBM Server and Storage Units, and Microsoft Windows Server, Exchange, and Office
- Knowledge of Python, Ansible, Salt Stack, Puppet, Chef, Netmiko, Nornir, NAPALM, Git, enms.io, netbox, kubernetes, and/or other NA products and tools
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent teamwork skills
